The road haulage industry has been struggling with a driver shortage, to various degrees, for many years, so we’re very pleased to see programmes like this appearing across the UK.

The Driver Academy Group have reported that nearly 30% of the bootcamp attendees are on the path to becoming HGV drivers, which brings in nearly 600 new drivers.

James Clifford, CEO of HGVC, reported that there are a further 8000 people on their waiting list for the bootcamp and that further funding would help to give these people the opportunity to train and help to fill the driver shortage.

It’s fantastic to see another initiative to get more drivers in HGVs on our roads.
